English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us, Shu'bah told us, from Abu al-Tayyah, who said: I heard Ibn al-Waddak - and Hajjaj said: from Abu al-Waddak - say: "I will not drink nabidh after what I heard Abu Sa'id say." He said: A drunken man was brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said, "I did not drink wine; I only drank raisins and dates soaked in a gourd vessel." He said: So he ordered him punished, and he was pushed with hands and struck with sandals, and he forbade the gourd vessel, and he forbade raisins and dates - meaning that they be mixed together.
