Ibrahim al-Nakha'i used to say: "She has no right to maintenance unless she demands it."

Al-Sha'bi used to say: "She has no right to maintenance from her husband if the delay (in consummation) is from her side."

نا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، وَجَرِيرٌ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ.
