Mujammi' ibn Ya'qub al-Ansari narrated from his father, from his uncle Abd al-Rahman ibn Yazid al-Ansari, from his uncle Mujammi' ibn Jariyah al-Ansari, who was one of the Quran reciters, who said: 'We witnessed al-Hudaybiyah with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). When we returned from it, the people were driving their camels fast. Some said to others: What is wrong with the people? They said: Allah has sent revelation to the Messenger of Allah. We went out at a gallop and found the Prophet on his mount, stopped at Kura' al-Ghamim. The people gathered around him and he recited to them: Indeed, We have granted you a clear victory [Al-Fath 1]. A man said: O Messenger of Allah, is this a victory? He said: Yes, by the One in Whose hand is my soul, it is indeed a victory. Then Khaybar was divided among the people of al-Hudaybiyah; no one shared in it except those who witnessed al-Hudaybiyah. The Prophet divided it into eighteen shares. The army was one thousand five hundred, among them three hundred horsemen. He gave the horseman two shares and the foot soldier one share.' Al-Shafi'i said in the old opinion: 'Mujammi' ibn Ya'qub is an unknown shaykh, so we took the hadith of Ubaydullah in this matter, and we did not see any report like it to contradict it, and it is not permissible to reject a report except with a similar report.'
