Ibn Umar narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) divided (the spoils) on the day of Khaybar, giving the horseman two shares and the foot soldier one share. But Abdullah al-Umari is prone to many errors. It was also narrated through another chain from al-Qa'nabi from Abdullah al-Umari with uncertainty about 'the horseman' or 'the horse.' Al-Shafi'i said in the old opinion: It is as if he heard Nafi' say 'two shares for the horse and one share for the man,' so he said 'two shares for the horseman and one share for the foot soldier.' No one among the scholars doubts the preference of Ubaydullah ibn Umar over his brother in memorization.
