Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:8036 حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ ثنا أَبُو غَالِبٍ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ أَبَا أُمَامَةَ الْبَاهِلِيَّ أَبْصَرَ رُءُوسَ الْخَوَارِجِ عَلَى دَرَجِ دِمَشْقَ فَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «كِلَابُ أَهْلِ النَّارِ كِلَابُ أَهْلِ النَّارِ كِلَابُ أَهْلِ النَّارِ» ثُمَّ بَكَى وَقَالَ «شَرُّ قَتْلَى تَحْتَ أَدِيمِ السَّمَاءِ وَخَيْرُ قَتْلَى مَنْ قَتَلُوهُ» قَالَ أَبُو غَالِبٍ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَ هَذَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ إِنِّي إِذًا لَجَرِيءٌ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ غَيْرَ مَرَّةٍ وَلَا مَرَّتَيْنِ وَلَا ثَلَاثٍ
English Translation
Abu Ghalib said: I saw Abu Umamah al-Bahili when he saw the heads of the Kharijites on the steps of Damascus. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: "Dogs of the people of the Fire, dogs of the people of the Fire, dogs of the people of the Fire." Then he wept and said: "The worst of those killed under the sky, and the best of those killed are those whom they killed." Abu Ghalib said: I said to him: "Did you yourself hear this from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)?" He said: "I would indeed be bold [to claim otherwise]. I heard it from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) more than once, twice, or three times."
