English Translation
Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "The past nations were presented before me, and the prophets began to pass by—some with one man, some with two men, some with a group of their Ummah, and one prophet had no one (of his Ummah) with him at all—until a very large multitude was presented before me. I asked: 'Whose Ummah is this? Is this my Ummah?' It was said to me: This is Musa (peace be upon him) and his Ummah. (Then) it was said: Look at the sky. (And what do I see! That a great multitude has covered the horizon of the sky.) Then I was told: Look here and there, at the other horizons of the sky. I saw that indeed a very great multitude had covered the horizon. Then I was told: This is your Ummah, and seventy thousand of them will enter Paradise without reckoning." Having said this much, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) went (into his chamber) and did not disclose to us who those people would be. At this the people began to discuss. They said: We believed in Allah and obeyed His Messenger (peace be upon him), so those people are us; or else it will be our children who have been born in the (present) age of Islam, because we were born in the age of ignorance. This news reached the Prophet (peace be upon him) too. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) (hearing this) came out and said: "They are those who do not seek ruqyah (nor have it done), nor see evil omens in anything, nor cauterize (for treatment with fire); rather they place their trust in their Lord." Ukkashah ibn Mihsan (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! Am I also among them? He said: "Yes! (You are among them)." Another man stood up and said: Am I also among them? So he (peace be upon him) said: "Ukkashah has preceded you."
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا: ’ میرے سامنے گزشتہ امتیں پیش کی گئیں اور انبیاء گزرنے لگے کسی کے ساتھ ایک آدمی، کسی کے ساتھ دو آدمی، کسی کے ساتھ ان کی امت کے کچھ لوگ تھے اور ایک نبی کے ساتھ کوئی بھی (امتی) نہ تھا یہاں تک کہ ایک بہت بڑی جماعت میرے سامنے کی گئی، میں نے پوچھا:”یہ کس کی امت ہے؟ کیا یہ میری امت ہے؟ تو مجھ سے کہا گیا کہ یہ موسیٰ علیہ السلام اور ان کی امت ہے (پھر) کہا گیا کہ تم آسمان کو دیکھو (تو کیا دیکھتا ہوں! کہ ایک بڑی جماعت نے آسمان کے کنارے کو گھیر رکھا ہے پھر مجھ سے کہا گیا کہ ادھر ادھر آسمان کے دوسرے کنارے بھی دیکھو۔ میں نے دیکھا کہ واقعی بہت بڑی جماعت افق کو گھیرے ہوئے تھی۔ پھر مجھ سے کہا گیا کہ یہ تمہاری امت ہے اور ان میں سے ستر ہزار بغیر حساب و کتاب کے جنت میں داخل ہوں گے۔“اس قدر فرما کر رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم(حجرہ میں) تشریف لے گئے اور ہم لوگوں سے یہ ظاہر نہ فرمایا:”وہ کون لوگ ہوں گے۔ (اس پر) لوگوں نے جھگڑنا شروع کیا۔ کہنے لگے کہ ہم اللہ پر ایمان لائے اور اس کے رسولصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی فرمانبرداری کی، اس لیے وہ لوگ ہم ہیں ورنہ ہماری اولاد ہو گی جو (کہ اب دور) اسلام میں پیدا ہوئے ہیں کیونکہ ہم دور جاہلیت کی پیدائش ہیں۔ یہ خبر نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکو بھی پہنچ گئی۔ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم(یہ سن کر) تشریف لائے اور فرمایا:”وہ تو وہ لوگ ہیں جو نہ دم کریں (کروائیں) اور نہ کسی شے میں بدفالی سمجھیں اور نہ (علاج کے لیے آگ سے) داغیں بلکہ اپنے اللہ ہی پر بھروسہ رکھیں“۔ سیدنا عکاشہ بن محصن رضی اللہ عنہ نے عرض کی کہ یا رسول اللہ! کیا میں بھی ان میں سے ہوں؟ فرمایا:”ہاں! (تو ان میں سے ہے)۔“کوئی دوسرا شخص کھڑا ہوا اور عرض کرنے لگا کہ کیا میں بھی انہی میں سے ہوں؟ تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا:”بس عکاشہ تم پر سبقت کر چکا۔“[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 1968]
