English Translation
Abu Sa'id informed us from Abu al-Abbas, from al-Hasan, from Yahya, from Ibn al-Mubarak, from Ma'mar, from Ali ibn al-Hakam, from Muhammad ibn Zayd who said: I heard Ibrahim al-Nakha'i say: A man came to Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: I have embraced Islam, so remove the kharaj from my land. He said: Your land was taken by force. And a man came to him and said: Such and such land can bear more kharaj than what is upon them. He said: There is no way to increase it; we made a treaty with them.
