حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتِ عُقْبَةَ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ رَخَّصَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ الْكَذِبِ فِي ثَلَاثٍ فِي الْحَرْبِ وَفِي الْإِصْلَاحِ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ وَقَوْلِ الرَّجُلِ لِامْرَأَتِهِ.
English Translation
Hajjaj told us, he said: Ibn Jurayj told us, from Ibn Shihab, from Humayd ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf, from his mother Umm Kulthum bint Uqbah, that she said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted lying in three cases: in war, in reconciling between people, and in a man's speech to his wife.
