English Translation
Yahya b. Sa'id narrated to us, from Hisham — meaning Ibn Urwah — who said: My father informed me, from al-Ahnaf b. Qays, from an uncle of his called Jariyah b. Qudamah, that a man said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, give me a saying, and make it brief, that I may retain it." He said, "Do not become angry." The man repeated his request several times, and each time he said, "Do not become angry." Yahya said: This is how Hisham said it — I said, "O Messenger of Allah" — though they say he did not meet the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
