قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ حَرْمَلَةَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ هِنْدِ بْنِ حَارِثَةَ وَكَانَ هِنْدٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ وَأَخُوهُ الَّذِي بَعَثَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْمُرُ قَوْمَهُ بِصِيَامِ عَاشُورَاءَ وَهُوَ أَسْمَاءُ بْنُ حَارِثَةَ فَحَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ هِنْدٍ عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بْنِ حَارِثَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَهُ فَقَالَ مُرْ قَوْمَكَ بِصِيَامِ هَذَا الْيَوْمِ قَالَ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ وَجَدْتُهُمْ قَدْ طَعِمُوا قَالَ فَلْيُتِمُّوا آخِرَ يَوْمِهِمْ.
English Translation
Affan narrated to us: Wuhayb narrated to us: Abd al-Rahman b. Harmalah narrated to us, from Yahya b. Hind b. Harithah — Hind was among the Companions of Hudaybiyyah, and his brother, whom the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent to command his people to fast Ashura, was Asma' b. Harithah — Yahya b. Hind narrated to me from Asma' b. Harithah, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent him and said, "Command your people to fast this day." He said, "What do you think if I find them having already eaten?" He said, "Then let them complete the rest of their day."
