English Translation
Isma'il, that is Ibn Ulayyah, told us, Hisham al-Dastuwa'i informed us, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman, from Jabir ibn Abdullah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to pray on his mount facing the east; but when he wanted to pray the obligatory prayer, he would dismount and face the qiblah.
