حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ عِلَاقَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جَرِيرًا يَقُولُ حِينَ مَاتَ الْمُغِيرَةُ وَاسْتَعْمَلَ قَرَابَتَهُ يَخْطُبُ فَقَامَ جَرِيرٌ فَقَالَ أُوصِيكُمْ بِتَقْوَى اللَّهِ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَأَنْ تَسْمَعُوا وَتُطِيعُوا حَتَّى يَأْتِيَكُمْ أَمِيرٌ اسْتَغْفِرُوا لِلْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى لَهُ فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يُحِبُّ الْعَافِيَةَ أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَإِنِّي أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُبَايِعُهُ بِيَدِي هَذِهِ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ فَاشْتَرَطَ عَلَيَّ النُّصْحَ فَوَرَبِّ هَذَا الْمَسْجِدِ إِنِّي لَكُمْ لَنَاصِحٌ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us: Shu'bah told us, from Ziyad ibn 'Ilaqa, who said: I heard Jarir say, when al-Mughira died and his relative was appointed governor and was delivering a sermon, Jarir stood up and said, "I advise you to fear Allah alone, who has no partner, and to listen and obey until a governor comes to you. Seek forgiveness for al-Mughira ibn Shu'ba, may Allah Most High forgive him, for he loved well-being. As for what follows: I came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, to pledge allegiance to him with this hand of mine upon Islam, and he stipulated upon me sincere counsel - and by the Lord of this mosque, I am indeed sincere in advice to you."
