Hajjaj ibn Muhammad told us: Sharik informed us, from Abu Ishaq, from al-Mundhir ibn Jarir, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "There is no people among whom acts of disobedience are committed, while among them is a man more powerful and able to prevent it than them, who do not change it, except that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, encompasses them all with punishment" - or he said, "punishment befalls them."
