It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "A servant utters a word, the gravity of which he does not realize, and because of it he sinks in the Fire (a distance) as far as between the east and the west." (Such as complaining about a Muslim or informing on him before rulers, or a false accusation, or an abuse, or a word of disbelief, or mockery of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), the Qur'an, or the Shariah. So a person should keep his tongue in check and not speak without need.)
