Sayyiduna 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: When evening came, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would say: "We have entered the evening and the dominion of Allah has entered the evening. All praise is for Allah. There is no true god except Allah, He is One with no partner. His is the dominion, His is the praise, and He has power over all things. O Allah! I ask You for the good of this night and of what comes after it, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of this night and of what comes after it. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from laziness and the evil of old age. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the Fire and the punishment of the grave." (The narrator) Hasan bin 'Ubaydullah said that Zubayd (a narrator) added to it from Ibrahim bin Suwayd, from 'Abd al-Rahman bin Yazid, from 'Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), who narrated it in marfu' form: "There is no god except Allah alone, with no partner. His is all dominion, His is all praise (He alone, with no partner), and He has power over all things." In another narration it is that when morning came, he would make the same supplication (in this manner): "We have entered the morning and the dominion of Allah has entered the morning ..." to the end (and instead of "night" he would say "day").
اردو ترجمہ
سیدنا عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمجب شام ہوتی تو فرماتے کہ ہم نے شام کی، اور اللہ کے ملک نے شام کی، ہر طرح کی تعریف اللہ کے لئے ہے، اللہ کے سوا کوئی سچا معبود نہیں ہے، جو اکیلا ہے اور اس کا کوئی شریک نہیں ہے، اسی کی سلطنت ہے، اسی کو تعریف ہے اور وہ ہر چیز پر قادر ہے۔ اے اللہ! میں تجھ سے اس رات کی بہتری مانگتا ہوں اور اس رات کے بعد کی اور اس رات کی برائی سے پناہ مانگتا ہوں اور اس کے بعد کی برائی سے۔ اے اللہ! میں سستی اور بڑھاپے کی برائی سے تیری پناہ مانگتا ہوں۔ اے اللہ! میں تجھ سے جہنم سے اور قبر کے عذاب سے پناہ مانگتا ہوں (راوی) حسن بن عبیداللہ نے کہا کہ زبید (راوی) نے ابراہیم بن سوید سے اس میں یہ زیادہ بیان کیا، انہوں نے عبدالرحمن بن یزید سے اور انہوں نے عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے اور انہوں نے اس کو مرفوعاً بیان کیا کہ”اللہ واحد کے علاوہ کوئی معبود نہیں، اس کا کوئی شریک نہیں ہر قسم کی بادشاہت اسی کے لئے ہے اور ہر قسم کی تعریف اسی (وحدہ لا شریک) کے لئے ہے اور وہ ہر چیز پر قدرت رکھنے والا ہے“ایک دوسری روایت میں ہے کہ جب صبح ہوتی تو یہی دعا (اس طرح) کرتے کہ صبح کی ہم نے اور اللہ کے ملک نے صبح کی ........ آخر تک (اور بجائے رات کے دن فرماتے)[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1894]
