انگریزی ترجمہ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) visited a Muslim who had become like a chick from illness (that is, he had become very weak and frail). He (peace be upon him) asked him: "Did you used to make any supplication or ask anything of Allah?" He said, "Yes! I used to say: 'O Allah! Whatever punishment You are going to inflict upon me in the Hereafter, inflict it upon me in this world.'" The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Glory be to Allah! You do not have the strength to bear (in this world) the punishment of Allah. Why did you not say: 'O Allah! Grant me good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and save me from the punishment of the Fire'?" Then he (peace be upon him) supplicated to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, for him, and Allah cured him.
اردو ترجمہ
سیدنا انس رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے ایک مسلمان کی عیادت کی جو بیماری سے چوزے کی طرح ہو گیا تھا (یعنی بہت ضعیف اور ناتواں ہو گیا تھا)۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے اس سے استفسار فرمایا کہ تو کچھ دعا کیا کرتا تھا یا اللہ سے کچھ سوال کیا کرتا تھا؟ وہ بولا کہ ہاں! میں یہ کہا کرتا تھا کہ اے اللہ! جو کچھ تو مجھے آخرت میں عذاب کرنے والا ہے، وہ دنیا ہی میں کر لے۔ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ سبحان اللہ! تجھ میں اتنی طاقت کہاں ہے کہ تو (دنیا میں) اللہ کا عذاب اٹھا سکے، تو نے یہ کیوں نہیں کہا کہ اے اللہ! مجھے دنیا میں بھی بھلائی دے اور آخرت میں بھی بھلائی دے اور مجھے جہنم کے عذاب سے بچا۔ پھر آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے اس کے لئے اللہ عزوجل سے دعا کی تو اللہ تعالیٰ نے اس کو اچھا کر دیا۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1883]
