Abu al-Nadr narrated from the book of Abdullah bin Abi Awfa, who belonged to the tribe of Aslam and was among the Companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him): He wrote to Umar bin Ubaydullah, when he went out (to fight) toward the Haruriyyah, and wished to inform him of the practice of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him): that on the days when the Messenger (peace be upon him) was in a state of fighting the enemy, he (peace be upon him) would wait until the sun had declined, and then, standing among the people (the Companions), he would proclaim: "O people! Do not wish to meet the enemy (in battle), and ask Allah the Exalted for well-being. (But) when you meet them face to face, then be patient, and know that Paradise is under the shade of swords." Then he (peace be upon him) stood and prayed thus: "O Allah! Revealer of the Book, Mover of the clouds, Router of the confederates, rout them and help us against them." اردو ترجمہ
ابوالنضر سیدنا عبداللہ بن ابی اوفی جو کہقبیلہ اسلم سے تعلق رکھتے تھے اور نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے صحابہ میں سے تھے، کی کتاب سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ انہوں نے عمر بن عبیداللہ کو کہ جب وہ حروریہ کی طرف (لڑائی) کے لئے نکلے تو لکھا اور وہ انہیں رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے عمل کی خبر دینا چاہتے تھے کہ جن دنوں رسولصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمدشمن سے لڑائی کی حالت میں تھے تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے زوال آفتاب تک انتظار کیا اور پھر لوگوں (صحابہ کرام) میں کھڑے ہو کر ارشاد فرمایا کہ اے لوگو! دشمن سے (لڑائی) ملاقات کی آرزو مت کرو اور اللہ تعالیٰ سے سلامتی کی آرزو کرو۔ (لیکن) جب آمنا سامنا ہو جائے تو صبر سے کام لو اور جان رکھو کہ جنت تلواروں کے سائے تلے ہے۔ پھر آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکھڑے ہوئے اور یوں دعا فرمائی کہ اے اللہ! کتاب نازل فرمانے والے، بادلوں کو چلانے والے اور جتھوں کو بھگانے والے، ان کو بھگا دے اور ان پر ہماری مدد فرما۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1126]
