Abdullah ibn Muhammad al-Azdi informed us, Ishaq ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, al-Nadr ibn Shumayl informed us, Kahmas ibn al-Hasan al-Qaysi narrated to us from Abu al-Salil Durayb ibn Nuqayr al-Qaysi who said: Abu Dharr said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ kept reciting this verse: {And whoever fears Allah, He will make for him a way out and provide for him from where he does not expect} - and he kept repeating it to me until I dozed off. Then he said: "O Abu Dharr, if all people took to it, it would suffice them." Then he said: "O Abu Dharr, what will you do if you are expelled from Madinah?" I said: "To spaciousness and comfort - I will be a pigeon among the pigeons of Makkah." He said: "What will you do if you are expelled from Makkah?" I said: "To spaciousness and comfort - to the land of Sham and the Holy Land." He said: "What will you do if you are expelled from it?" I said: "Then, by the One who sent you with the truth, I will take my sword and place it on my shoulder." He ﷺ said: "Or better than that - listen and obey, even to an Abyssinian slave with mutilated limbs."
