Ahmad ibn Ali ibn al-Muthanna informed us, he said: Abu Khaythama narrated to us, he said: Isma'il ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, from Khalid al-Hadhdha', from Abdullah ibn al-Harith, who said: Ibn Umar used to say when he went to his bed: 'O Allah, You created my soul and You will take it back. To You belongs its death and its life. O Allah, if You take it back, then forgive it, and if You give it life, then protect it. O Allah, I ask You for well-being.' A man from his children said to him: 'Did Umar used to say this?' He said: 'Rather, one better than Umar used to say it.' And we thought he meant the Prophet ﷺ.
