Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Allah the Exalted said: Every deed of the son of Adam is multiplied - a good deed is worth ten like it up to seven hundred times. Allah the Exalted said: Except fasting, for it is for Me and I will reward for it. He abandons his desire and his food for My sake. The fasting person has two moments of joy: when he breaks his fast he rejoices, and when he meets his Lord he rejoices in his fasting. And the smell of the mouth of a fasting person is better with Allah than the scent of musk.'
