Isma'il narrated to us, he said Imam Malik (upon him be mercy) narrated to me, from Hadrat Zayd bin Aslam, from Abu Salih al-Samman, from Hadrat Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be well pleased with him) who said: The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) declared: "Horses are for three (types of) persons: for one person there is reward, for one there is a covering (protection from poverty), and upon one there is a burden. As for the one who has reward — he is the one who ties it in the path of Allah and extends its tethering rope in a meadow or a garden; whatever it eats within the reach of its rope in that meadow or garden shall be counted as good deeds for him. And if it breaks its rope and gallops over a hillock or two, its tracks and droppings shall be good deeds for him. And if it passes by a river and drinks from it, even though he did not intend to water it, that too shall be good deeds for him — such a person shall have reward. And the one who ties it for self-sufficiency and modesty, and does not forget Allah's right upon their necks and backs, for him it is a covering. And the one who ties it out of pride and ostentation, upon him it is a burden." And the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was asked about donkeys, and he declared: "Allah the Exalted has not revealed anything to me regarding them except this one comprehensive verse: 'Whoever does an atom's weight of good shall see it, and whoever does an atom's weight of evil shall see it' (al-Zalzalah 99:7-8)."

ہم سے اسماعیل نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا مجھ سے امام مالک رحمۃ اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ نے بیان کیا، ان سے زید بن اسلم نے، ان سے ابوصالح سمان نے اور ان سے حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: "گھوڑے تین آدمیوں کے لیے ہیں: ایک شخص کے لیے اجر ہے، ایک شخص کے لیے پردہ ہے اور ایک شخص پر بوجھ ہے۔ جس شخص کے لیے اجر ہے وہ وہ ہے جس نے اسے اللہ کے راستے میں باندھا اور چراگاہ یا باغ میں اسے لمبی رسی سے باندھا، تو جو کچھ وہ اس رسی کی حد تک اس چراگاہ یا باغ میں کھائے وہ اس کے لیے نیکیاں ہیں، اور اگر وہ رسی توڑ کر ایک ٹیلے یا دو ٹیلے دوڑ جائے تو اس کے نشانات اور اس کی لید بھی اس کے لیے نیکیاں ہیں، اور اگر وہ کسی نہر سے گزرے اور پانی پیے حالانکہ مالک نے اسے پلانے کا ارادہ نہیں کیا تھا تو بھی یہ اس کے لیے نیکیاں ہیں — ایسا شخص کے لیے اجر ہے۔ اور جس شخص نے اسے بے نیازی اور پاک دامنی کے لیے باندھا اور اس کی گردنوں اور پیٹھوں میں اللہ کا حق نہیں بھولا، تو یہ اس کے لیے پردہ ہے۔ اور جس شخص نے اسے فخر اور ریاکاری کے لیے باندھا تو یہ اس پر بوجھ ہے۔" اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے گدھوں کے بارے میں پوچھا گیا تو فرمایا: "اللہ تعالیٰ نے ان کے بارے میں مجھ پر اس ایک جامع آیت کے سوا کچھ نازل نہیں فرمایا: «فَمَنْ يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْرًا يَرَهُ * وَمَنْ يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ شَرًّا يَرَهُ» (جو ذرہ بھر نیکی کرے گا وہ اسے دیکھے گا اور جو ذرہ بھر برائی کرے گا وہ اسے دیکھے گا)۔"
