أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ بِمَرْوٍ ثنا أَبُو عُثْمَانَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَسْعُودِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ثنا النَّضْرُ بْنُ شُمَيْلٍ أنبأ شُعْبَةُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ فُورَكٍ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ فَارِسٍ ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْمُنْذِرَ بْنَ جَرِيرٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ كُنَّا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ جُلُوسًا فِي صَدْرِ النَّهَارِ فَجَاءَ قَوْمٌ حُفَاةٌ عُرَاةٌ مُجْتَابِي النِّمَارِ عَلَيْهِمُ الْعَبَاءُ أَوْ قَالَ مُتَقَلِّدِي السُّيُوفِ عَامَّتُهُمْ مِنْ مُضَرَ بَلْ كُلُّهُمْ مِنْ مُضَرَ فَرَأَيْتُ وَجْهَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَتَغَيَّرُ لِمَا يَرَى بِهِمْ مِنَ الْفَاقَةِ فَدَخَلَ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَأَمَرَ بِلَالًا فَأَقَامَ فَصَلَّى الظُّهْرَ فَخَطَبَ ثُمَّ قَالَ { يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُوا رَبَّكُمُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ مِنْ نَفْسٍ وَاحِدَةٍ } [النساء 1] إِلَى آخِرِ الْآيَةِ ثُمَّ قَالَ { يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللهَ وَلْتَنْظُرْ نَفْسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ لِغَدٍ } [الحشر 18] الْآيَةَ تَصَدَّقَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ دِينَارِهِ مِنْ دِرْهَمِهِ مِنْ ثَوْبِهِ مِنْ صَاعِ بُرِّهِ مِنْ صَاعِ تَمْرِهِ حَتَّى قَالَ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ قَالَ فَأَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ بِصُرَّةٍ قَدْ كَادَتْ كَفُّهُ أَنْ تَعْجِزُ عَنْهَا بَلْ قَدْ عَجَزَتْ عَنْهَا فَدَفَعَهَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَتَتَابَعَ النَّاسُ فِي الصَّدَقَاتِ فَرَأَيْتُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ كَوْمَيْنِ مِنْ طَعَامٍ وَثِيَابٍ وَجَعَلَ وَجْهُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَتَهَلَّلُ كَأَنَّهُ مُذْهَبَةٌ وَقَالَ مَنْ سَنَّ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ سُنَّةً حَسَنَةً فَلَهُ أَجْرُهَا وَأَجْرُ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا مِنْ بَعْدِهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يُنْتَقَصَ مِنْ أُجُورِهِمْ شَيْءٌ وَمَنْ سَنَّ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ سُنَةً سَيِّئَةً كَانَ عَلَيْهِ وِزْرُهَا وَوِزْرُ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا مِنْ بَعْدِهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يُنْتَقَصَ مِنْ أَوْزَارِهِمْ شَيْءٌ لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ أَبِي دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ وَحَدِيثُ النَّضْرِ بِمَعْنَاهُ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرِ النَّضْرُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْعَبَاءُ

Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz and Abu Bakr ibn Furak informed us... from Jarir ibn Abdullah who said: We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) in the middle of the day when some barefoot, unclothed people came, wearing striped woolen garments or cloaks, carrying swords, most of them from Mudar - rather all of them from Mudar. The face of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) changed when he saw their state of poverty. He entered, then came out and ordered Bilal to give the call. He prayed Dhuhr and then gave a sermon saying: {O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul} [al-Nisa: 1] to the end of the verse. Then he said: {O you who have believed, fear Allah. And let every soul look to what it has put forth for tomorrow} [al-Hashr: 18]. Give charity - a man from his dinars, from his dirhams, from his clothing, from his sa' of wheat, from his sa' of dates - even if with half a date. A man from the Ansar came with a pouch that his hand could barely hold and gave it to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). The people followed one another in charity until I saw two heaps of food and clothing before the Messenger of Allah, and his face began to glow. He said: 'Whoever establishes a good practice in Islam has its reward and the reward of all who act upon it after him, without their rewards being diminished. And whoever establishes a bad practice in Islam bears its burden and the burden of all who act upon it after him, without their burdens being diminished.'
