And Abu Sa'id ibn Abi Amr informed us, Abu al-Abbas al-Asamm informed us, al-Rabi' informed us saying: I asked al-Shafi'i about ruqyah. He said: "There is no harm in a man performing ruqyah with the Book of Allah and what he knows of the remembrance of Allah." I asked: "Can the People of the Book perform ruqyah on Muslims?" He said: "Yes, if they perform ruqyah with what is known to be from the Book of Allah and the remembrance of Allah." I said: "What is the evidence for that?" He said: "Evidence other than one - as for the narration of our companion and yours, Malik informed us from Yahya ibn Sa'id from Amrah bint Abd al-Rahman that Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) entered upon Aisha while she was ill and a Jewish woman was performing ruqyah on her. He said: 'Perform ruqyah on her with the Book of Allah.'" The Shaykh (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The reports regarding what the Prophet (peace be upon him) used as ruqyah and was treated with, and what he treated himself with and ordered treatment with, are numerous. I have included some of what was reported about ruqyah in the Book of Supplications. And with Allah is success.
