أَخْبَرَنَاهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ فُورَكٍ أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا جُحَيْفَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ ؓ قَالَ ذَبَحَ أَبُو بُرْدَةَ قَبْلَ الصَّلَاةِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَبْدِلْهَا فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَيْسَ عِنْدِي إِلَّا جَذَعَةٌ خَيْرٌ مِنْ مُسِنَّةٍ قَالَ اجْعَلْهَا مَكَانَهَا وَلَنْ تُجْزِيَ أَوْ تُوفِيَ عَنْ أَحَدٍ بَعْدَكَ

Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn al-Hasan ibn Furak informed us, Abdullah ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Yunus ibn Habib narrated to us, Abu Dawud narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us from Salamah ibn Kuhayil who said: I heard Abu Juhayfah narrating from al-Bara' ibn Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: Abu Burdah slaughtered before the prayer, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Replace it." He said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have nothing but a young ewe better than an older one." He said: "Make it its replacement, and it will not suffice or be acceptable for anyone after you."
