Abu Zakariyya and Abu Bakr informed us... from Ata, who said: I married off a son of mine and invited al-Qasim bin Muhammad and Ubaidullah bin Abdullah bin Umar. When they arrived at the door, Ubaidullah saw that the house had been draped with brocade, so he turned back, while al-Qasim bin Muhammad entered. I said: By Allah, he despised me when he left. I said to him: May Allah set you right, by Allah that was something I did not do; it was something the women did and they overpowered us regarding it. Then he told me that Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) married off his son Salim. On the day of his wedding, Abdullah bin Umar invited people, among them Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him). When Abu Ayyub arrived at the door and saw a silk curtain in the house, he said: You have done it, O Abu Abd al-Rahman! You have covered the walls! Then he left. In another narration, Ibn Umar invited Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him), who saw a curtain on the wall. Ibn Umar said: The women overpowered us regarding it. Abu Ayyub said: Of all people, I feared for you the least. By Allah, I will not eat your food! And he went back.
