Abu Nu'aym told us: Yunus - namely Ibn Abi Ishaq - told us, from Hilal ibn Khabbab Abu al-Ala, who said: Ikrima told me: Abdullah ibn Amr told me, who said: While we were around the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, they mentioned tribulation - or it was mentioned in his presence - and he said: "When you see people whose covenants have become corrupt and whose trusts have become light, and they have become like this" - and he interlaced his fingers. He said: I stood up to him and said, "What should I do at that time, may Allah make me a ransom for you?" He said, "Stay in your house, control your tongue, take what you recognize [as good] and leave what you disapprove of, occupy yourself with your own private affairs, and leave aside the affairs of the general public."
