Abu Nu'aym told us: al-A'mash told us, from Amr ibn Murra, who said: We were sitting with Abu Ubayda, and they mentioned showing off [in worship], and a man known as Abu Yazid said: I heard Abdullah ibn Amr say: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever makes his deeds heard of by the people [to gain praise], Allah will make it heard by the hearing of His creation on the Day of Resurrection, and He will humiliate him and belittle him."
