Yahya told us, from Ubaydullah: Nafi' informed me, from Ibn Umar, that a man called out to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, "What clothes may we wear when we enter ihram?" He said, "Do not wear shirts, turbans, hooded cloaks, trousers, or leather socks, except one who cannot find sandals" - and Yahya said once: "except that a man who has no sandals should cut them below the ankles" - "and do not wear a garment that has been touched by wars or saffron."
