Yahya told us, from al-Taymi, from Abu Uthman, from Ibn Mas’ud, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Let not the call to prayer of Bilal prevent any of you from your pre-dawn meal, for he calls" — or he said "announces" — "so that the one among you standing in prayer may go back to rest, and the one sleeping among you may wake up; it is not the time when he does like this" — and he brought his hand together and raised it — "but rather until he does like this" — and Yahya spread his two index fingers apart. Abu Abd al-Rahman said: I have not heard this hadith from anyone else.
