Muhammad b. Fudayl told us: Yazid — meaning Ibn Abi Ziyad — told us, from Mujahid, who said: Abd Allah b. al-Zubayr said, 'Perform Hajj alone and leave what this one says' — meaning Ibn Abbas. Ibn Abbas said, 'Ask your mother about this.' So he sent to her, and she said, 'Ibn Abbas has spoken the truth. We went out with the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) as pilgrims, and he commanded us, so we made it an Umrah, and what was unlawful became lawful for us, until the braziers of incense rose between the women and the men.'
