Waki' told us: al-A'mash told us, from Abu Salih Dhakwan, from one of the Companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: A man came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and said, "O Messenger of Allah, so-and-so has a palm tree in my garden; order him to sell it to me or give it to me." The man refused. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Do it, and you will have a palm tree in Paradise in exchange." He still refused. So the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: This is the stingiest of people.
