Hushaym narrated to us: Yunus informed us, from al-Hasan, that Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, wanted to forbid the tamattu' form of Hajj (combining Hajj and Umrah with a break between). Ubayy said to him: "That is not for you to do; we performed tamattu' with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he did not forbid us from it." So Umar desisted from that. He also wanted to forbid the striped Yemeni garments (hibarah cloaks), because they were dyed using urine. Ubayy said to him: "That is not for you to do; the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, wore them, and we wore them in his time."
