حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْحَسَنَ يَقُولُ وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ قَالَ دَخَلَ عَائِذُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو قَالَ يَزِيدُ وَكَانَ مِنْ صَالِحِي أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ فَقَالَ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ شَرُّ الرِّعَاءِ الْحُطَمَةُ قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ فَأَظُنُّهُ قَالَ إِيَّاكَ أَنْ تَكُونَ مِنْهُمْ وَلَمْ يَشُكَّ يَزِيدُ فَقَالَ اجْلِسْ إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ مِنْ نُخَالَةِ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ وَهَلْ كَانَتْ لَهُمْ أَوْ فِيهِمْ نُخَالَةٌ إِنَّمَا كَانَتْ النُّخَالَةُ بَعْدَهُمْ وَفِي غَيْرِهِمْ.
انگریزی ترجمہ
'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi told us, Jarir ibn Hazim told us, he said: I heard al-Hasan say -- and Yazid ibn Harun informed us, Jarir ibn Hazim told us, al-Hasan told us -- he said: 'A'idh ibn 'Amr entered upon 'Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad -- Yazid said: and he was among the righteous Companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him -- and said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'The worst of shepherds is the harsh, destructive one.'" 'Abd al-Rahman said: I think he said, "Beware of being one of them" -- and Yazid did not doubt it. So he said, "Sit down, you are only from the sweepings of the Companions of Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him." He said, "Did they have, or was there among them, any sweepings? The sweepings only came after them, and among others."
