Affan narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salama narrated to us, Abd al-Malik Abu Ja'far informed us, from Abu Nadra, from Sa'd ibn al-Atwal, that his brother died leaving three hundred dirhams and dependents. He said: I wanted to spend it on his dependents, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Your brother is held back because of his debt, so settle it on his behalf." He said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have indeed settled it on his behalf except for two dinars claimed by a woman who has no proof." He said, "Then give them to her, for she is telling the truth." Affan narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salama narrated to us, from al-Jurayri, from Abu Nadra, from a man among the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), with something similar.
