Ahmad b. Abd al-Malik, meaning al-Harrani, told us, he said: Sharik told us, from Simak, from al-Nu'man b. Bashir, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "By Allah, Allah is more joyful at the repentance of His servant than a man who was on a journey in a barren land, who took shelter in the shade of a tree and slept beneath it. He woke to find his riding animal gone, so he went to a hill and climbed it, looking out, but saw nothing; then he went to another hill and looked out, but saw nothing. He said, 'I will go back to the place I was in and stay there until I die.' He said: So he went, and there was his riding animal, dragging its halter." He said: "So Allah, Mighty and Majestic, is more joyful at the repentance of His servant than this man was at finding his riding animal."
