حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ عَوْنٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ حِمَارٍ الْمُجَاشِعِيِّ وَكَانَتْ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَعْرِفَةٌ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُبْعَثَ فَلَمَّا بُعِثَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَهْدَى لَهُ هَدِيَّةً قَالَ أَحْسَبُهَا إِبِلًا فَأَبَى أَنْ يَقْبَلَهَا وَقَالَ إِنَّا لَا نَقْبَلُ زَبْدَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ قَالَ قُلْتُ وَمَا زَبْدُ الْمُشْرِكِينَ قَالَ رِفْدُهُمْ هَدِيَّتُهُمْ.
انگریزی ترجمہ
Hushaym told us, Ibn Awn informed us, from al-Hasan, from Iyad ibn Himar al-Mujashi'i, who had an acquaintance with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, before he was sent as a prophet. When the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was sent, he offered him a gift — he thought it was camels — but he refused to accept it and said: We do not accept the offerings of polytheists. He said: I said: What is the offering of the polytheists? He said: Their gift, their present.
