Waki' narrated to us, he said: Sufyan narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Sa'id, from 'Ubaydullah ibn Zahr, from Abu Sa'id al-Ru'ayni, from 'Abdullah ibn Malik al-Yahsubi, from 'Uqbah ibn 'Amir al-Juhani, that his sister vowed to walk barefoot and unveiled [on pilgrimage]. He asked the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, about it, and he said, "Allah has no need of your sister's suffering; tell her to wear a veil, ride, and fast three days."
