Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi told us: Mu'awiyah, that is Ibn Salih, told us, from Sa'id ibn Suwayd al-Kalbi, from Abdullah ibn Hilal al-Sulami, from Irbad ibn Sariyah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: I am indeed the servant of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets, while Adam, peace be upon him, was still lying prostrate in his clay. And I shall inform you of the beginning of that matter: the supplication of my father Ibrahim, the glad tidings of Isa concerning me, and the vision my mother saw, and likewise the mothers of the prophets see such visions. Abu al-'Ala', who is al-Hasan ibn Sawwar, told us: Layth told us, from Mu'awiyah, from Sa'id ibn Suwayd, from Abd al-A'la ibn Hilal al-Sulami, from Irbad ibn Sariyah, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: I am the servant of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets - and he mentioned the like of it, and added in it: that the mother of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, saw, when she gave birth to him, a light by which the palaces of Syria were illuminated.
