حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ وَابْنُ بَكْرٍ قَالَا أَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْأَعْمَى يُخْبِرُ عَنْ رَجُلٍ يُقَالُ لَهُ السَّائِبُ مَوْلَى الْفَارِسِيِّينَ وَقَالَ ابْنُ بَكْرٍ مَوْلًى لِفَارِسَ وَقَالَ حَجَّاجٌ مَوْلَى الْفَارِسِيِّ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ أَنَّهُ رَآهُ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ وَهُوَ خَلِيفَةٌ رَكَعَ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَمَشَى إِلَيْهِ فَضَرَبَهُ بِالدِّرَّةِ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي كَمَا هُوَ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ زَيْدٌ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَوَاللَّهِ لَا أَدَعُهُمَا أَبَدًا بَعْدَ أَنْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّيهِمَا قَالَ فَجَلَسَ إِلَيْهِ عُمَرُ وَقَالَ يَا زَيْدُ بْنَ خَالِدٍ لَوْلَا أَنِّي أَخْشَى أَنْ يَتَّخِذَهَا النَّاسُ سُلَّمًا إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ حَتَّى اللَّيْلِ لَمْ أَضْرِبْ فِيهِمَا.
انگریزی ترجمہ
Abd al-Razzaq and Ibn Bakr told us, saying: Ibn Jurayj informed us, saying: I heard Abu Sa'id al-A'ma inform, from a man called al-Sa'ib, freedman of the Persians — Ibn Bakr said: freedman of a Persian, and Hajjaj said: freedman of the Persian — from Zayd ibn Khalid, that Umar ibn al-Khattab, while he was caliph, saw him perform two rak'ahs after the afternoon prayer, and went to him and struck him with the whip while he was praying, remaining as he was. When he finished, Zayd said: "O Commander of the Faithful, by Allah, I will never abandon them, ever, after I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, pray them." So Umar sat down beside him and said: "O Zayd ibn Khalid, were it not that I fear that the people would take it as a stairway to prayer even until night, I would not have struck (you) for them."
