قَالَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ عَنْ حَفْصَةَ عَنِ الرَّبَابِ أُمِّ الرَّائِحِ ابْنَةِ صُلَيْعٍ عَنْ سَلْمَانَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الضَّبِّيِّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَفْطَرَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيُفْطِرْ عَلَى تَمْرٍ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَلْيُفْطِرْ عَلَى مَاءٍ فَإِنَّهُ طَهُورٌ.

He said — he said, Waki' told us: Sufyan told us, from Asim al-Ahwal, from Hafsa, from al-Rabab, Umm al-Ra'ih bint Sulay', from Salman ibn Amir al-Dabbi, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'When one of you breaks his fast, let him break it with dates; and if he cannot find any, let him break it with water, for it is purifying.'
