حَدَّثَنَا سَيَّارٌ حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرٌ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعَلَّى بْنُ زِيَادٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ الْمُزَنِيُّ وَكَانَ وَاللَّهِ مَا عَلِمْتُ شُجَاعًا عِنْدَ اللِّقَاءِ بَكَّاءً عِنْدَ الذِّكْرِ عَنْ أَبِي الصِّدِّيقِ النَّاجِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ كُنْتُ فِي حَلْقَةٍ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ إِنَّ بَعْضَنَا لَيَسْتَتِرُ بِبَعْضٍ مِنْ الْعُرْيِ وَقَارِئٌ لَنَا يَقْرَأُ عَلَيْنَا فَنَحْنُ نَسْمَعُ إِلَى كِتَابِ اللَّهِ إِذْ وَقَفَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَعَدَ فِينَا لِيَعُدَّ نَفْسَهُ مَعَهُمْ فَكَفَّ الْقَارِئُ فَقَالَ مَا كُنْتُمْ تَقُولُونَ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَانَ قَارِئٌ لَنَا يَقْرَأُ عَلَيْنَا كِتَابَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِيَدِهِ وَحَلَّقَ بِهَا يُومِئُ إِلَيْهِمْ أَنْ تَحَلَّقُوا فَاسْتَدَارَتْ الْحَلْقَةُ فَمَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَرَفَ مِنْهُمْ أَحَدًا غَيْرِي قَالَ فَقَالَ أَبْشِرُوا يَا مَعْشَرَ الصَّعَالِيكِ تَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ قَبْلَ الْأَغْنِيَاءِ بِنِصْفِ يَوْمٍ وَذَلِكَ خَمْسُ مِائَةِ عَامٍ.

Sayyar narrated to us, Ja'far narrated to us, al-Mu'alla b. Ziyad narrated to us, al-Ala b. Bashir al-Muzani narrated to us - and by Allah, I never knew him to be anything but brave in battle and given to weeping at the mention of Allah - from Abu al-Siddiq al-Naji, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: I was in a circle of the Ansar - some of us covering ourselves with others out of nakedness - and a reciter of ours was reciting to us, and we were listening to the Book of Allah, when the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, stopped by us and sat among us so as to count himself among them. The reciter fell silent, and he said, "What were you saying?" We said, "O Messenger of Allah, a reciter of ours was reciting to us the Book of Allah." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, gestured with his hand, forming a circle with it, indicating to them to form a circle, so the circle became round. I never saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, recognize any of them except me. He said: "Rejoice, O company of the poor, you will enter Paradise before the wealthy by half a day, and that is five hundred years."
