Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar informed us, from Zayd b. Aslam, from a man, from Abu Sa'id: that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Beware of sitting on the roads" - and sometimes Ma'mar said "in the open places" - they said, "O Messenger of Allah, we cannot do without our sittings." He said, "Then give the road its due." They said, "What is its due?" He said, "Return the greeting, lower the gaze, guide the one who asks directions, enjoin what is good, and forbid what is wrong."
