Ishaq ibn 'Isa told us: 'Abdullah ibn Lahi'ah ibn 'Uqbah told us: Bukayr ibn 'Abdullah ibn al-Ashajj told us, from 'Abd al-Malik ibn Sa'id ibn Suwayd al-Sa'idi, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Gabriel led me in prayer: he prayed the noon prayer when the sun had passed its zenith; he prayed the afternoon prayer when the shadow of a thing equaled its length; he prayed the sunset prayer when the sun had set; he prayed the night prayer when twilight had disappeared; and he prayed the dawn prayer when dawn broke. Then the next day came, and he prayed the noon prayer when the shadow of everything equaled its length; he prayed the afternoon prayer when the shadow was twice its length; he prayed the sunset prayer when the sun had set; he prayed the night prayer up to the first third of the night; and he prayed the dawn prayer when the sun was almost about to rise." Then he said: "The prayer time is between these two times."
