حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا فُلَيْحٌ عَنْ سَالِمٍ أَبِي النَّضْرِ عَنْ بُسْرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ قَالَ خَطَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ النَّاسَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ خَيَّرَ عَبْدًا بَيْنَ الدُّنْيَا وَبَيْنَ مَا عِنْدَهُ قَالَ فَاخْتَارَ ذَلِكَ الْعَبْدُ مَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ قَالَ فَبَكَى أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ فَعَجِبْنَا لِبُكَائِهِ أَنْ خَبَّرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ عَبْدٍ خُيِّرَ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمُخَيَّرَ وَكَانَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَعْلَمَنَا بِهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ أَمَنَّ النَّاسِ عَلَيَّ فِي صُحْبَتِهِ وَمَالِهِ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَلَوْ كُنْتُ مُتَّخِذًا مِنْ النَّاسِ خَلِيلًا غَيْرَ رَبِّي لَاتَّخَذْتُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ وَلَكِنْ أُخُوَّةُ الْإِسْلَامِ أَوْ مَوَدَّتُهُ لَا يَبْقَى بَابٌ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ إِلَّا سُدَّ إِلَّا بَابَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ حَدَّثَنَا فُلَيْحٌ عَنْ سَالِمٍ أَبِي النَّضْرِ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ حُنَيْنٍ وَبُسْرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ خَطَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ حَدَّثَنَاه سُرَيْجٌ حَدَّثَنَا فُلَيْحٌ عَنْ أَبِي النَّضْرِ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ حُنَيْنٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَطَبَ النَّاسَ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ.

Abu Amir told us, Fulayh told us, from Salim Abu al-Nadr, from Busr ibn Sa'id, from Abu Sa'id, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, addressed the people and said: "Allah, Mighty and Sublime, gave a servant the choice between this world and what is with Him, and that servant chose what is with Allah." Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, wept, and we were astonished at his weeping, since the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, had only informed us about a servant who was given the choice — for the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was the one given the choice, and Abu Bakr was the most knowledgeable of us about him. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The most generous of people to me in his companionship and his wealth is Abu Bakr, and if I were to take a close friend from among people other than my Lord, I would have taken Abu Bakr, but the brotherhood of Islam, or its affection, is sufficient. No door in the mosque should remain except that it be closed, except the door of Abu Bakr." Yunus told us, Fulayh told us, from Salim Abu al-Nadr, from Ubayd ibn Hunayn and Busr ibn Sa'id, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, delivered a sermon, and he mentioned the hadith.
