Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:9824 حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَاصِمِ ابْنِ بَهْدَلَةَ عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ أَنَّ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ وَكَانَ عِنْدَهُ غُلَامٌ فَقَرَأَ الْمُصْحَفَ وَعِنْدَهُ أَصْحَابُهُ فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ خَضْرَمَةُ فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَيُّ دَرَجَاتِ الْإِسْلَامِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ الصَّلَاةُ قَالَ ثُمَّ أَيٌّ؟ قَالَ الزَّكَاةُ قَالَ ثُمَّ أَيٌّ؟ قَالَ بِرُّ الْوَالِدَيْنِ قَالَ فَمَعَ مَنِ الْمَرْءُ؟ قَالَ أَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ مَعَ مَنْ أَحَبَّ
English Translation
Ali ibn Abd al-Aziz narrated to us, from Hajjaj ibn al-Minhal, from Hammad ibn Salamah, from Asim ibn Bahdhalah, from Zirr ibn Hubaysh that Ibn Mas'ud - while a young man was reciting the Mushaf and his companions were with him - a man called Khadramah came and said: 'O Abu Abd al-Rahman, which levels of Islam are best?' He said: 'Prayer.' He said: 'Then which?' He said: 'Zakat.' He said: 'Then which?' He said: 'Dutifulness to parents.' He said: 'Whom will a person be with (on the Day of Judgment)?' He said - I think he said: 'With those whom he loves.'
