Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:9685 حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ شَيْخٍ مِنْهُمْ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ جَاءَ جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ إِلَى عُمَرَ يَشْكُو إِلَيْهِ مَا يَلْقَى مِنَ النِّسَاءِ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ إِنَّا لَنَجِدُ ذَلِكَ حَتَّى إِنِّي لَأُرِيدُ الْحَاجَةَ فَيُقَالُ لِي مَا تَذْهَبُ إِلَّا إِلَى فَتَيَاتِ بَنِي فُلَانٍ تَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِنَّ فَقَالَ لَهُ عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ أَمَا بَلَغَكَ أَنَّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ شَكَى إِلَى اللهِ ﷻ ذَرَا خُلُقَ سَارَةَ فَقِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّمَا خُلِقَتْ مِنْ ضِلْعٍ فَالْبَسْهَا عَلَى مَا كَانَ فِيهَا مَا لَمْ تَرَ عَلَيْهَا خِزْيَةً فِي دِينِهَا فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ لَقَدْ حَشَى اللهُ بَيْنَ أَضْلَاعِكَ عِلْمًا كَثِيرًا
English Translation
Ishaq ibn Ibrahim narrated from Abd al-Razzaq, from Ibn Uyaynah, from a shaykh among them, from his father who said: Jarir ibn Abdullah came to Umar complaining about what he endured from women. Umar said: 'We find that too, until I want to go somewhere and it is said to me: You are only going to look at the girls of such-and-such tribe.' At that, Abdullah ibn Mas'ud said to him: 'Have you not heard that Ibrahim (Abraham) complained to Allah about Sarah's harsh character, and it was said to him: She was created from a rib, so bear with her as she is unless you see something disgraceful in her religion?' Umar said to him: 'Allah has indeed filled your chest with abundant knowledge.'
