Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:9491 حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ثنا مُجَالِدٌ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَجِئْنَا نَمْشِي مَعَ عَبْدِ اللهِ فَلَمَّا رَكَعَ النَّاسُ رَكَعَ عَبْدُ اللهِ وَرَكَعْنَا مَعَهُ وَنَحْنُ نَمْشِي فَمَرَّ رَجُلٌ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَقَالَ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ وَهُوَ رَاكِعٌ صَدَقَ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ سَأَلَهُ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ لِمَ قُلْتَ حِينَ سَلَّمَ عَلَيْكَ الرَّجُلُ صَدَقَ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ؟ فَقَالَ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مِنْ أَشْرَاطِ السَّاعَةِ إِذَا كَانَتِ التَّحِيَّةُ عَلَى الْمَعْرِفَةِ»
English Translation
Al-Aswad ibn Yazid said: 'The prayer was called in the mosque, and we came walking with Abdullah. When the people bowed, Abdullah bowed and we bowed with him while walking. A man passed in front of him and said: Peace be upon you, O Abu Abd al-Rahman. Abdullah said while bowing: Allah and His Messenger spoke the truth. When he finished, some people asked him: Why did you say that when the man greeted you? He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: "Among the signs of the Hour is when greetings are given only to acquaintances."'
