Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:8034 حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ حُمَيْدٍ الطَّوِيلُ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْأَحْمَرُ النَّاقِدُ الْبَصْرِيُّ ثنا طَالُوتُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ قَالَا ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ثنا أَبُو غَالِبٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ أَمْشِي مَعَ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ وَهُوَ عَلَى حِمَارٍ لَهُ حَتَّى انْتَهَيْنَا إِلَى دَرَجِ دِمَشْقَ فَإِذَا رُءُوسٌ مَنْصُوبَةٌ فَقَالَ مَا هَذِهِ الرُّءُوسُ؟ فَقِيلَ رُءُوسُ الْخَوَارِجِ جِيءَ بِهَا مِنَ الْعِرَاقِ فَقَالَ «كِلَابُ النَّارِ كِلَابُ النَّارِ ثَلَاثًا شَرُّ قَتْلَى قُتِلَتْ تَحْتَ السَّمَاءِ ثَلَاثًا يَقُولُهَا خَيْرُ قَتْلَى مَنْ قَتَلَهُ هَؤُلَاءِ ثَلَاثًا يَقُولُهَا طُوبَى لِمَنْ قَتَلَهُمْ وَقَتَلُوهُ ثَلَاثًا يَقُولُهَا » ثُمَّ بَكَى فَقُلْتُ مَا يُبْكِيكَ يَا أَبَا أُمَامَةَ؟ قَالَ «رَحْمَةً لَهُمْ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْإِسْلَامِ فَخَرَجُوا مِنَ الْإِسْلَامِ» ثُمَّ قَرَأَ {هُوَ الَّذِي أَنْزَلَ عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ مِنْهُ آيَاتٌ مُحْكَمَاتٌ هُنَّ أُمُّ الْكِتَابِ} حَتَّى فَرَغَ مِنَ الْآيَاتِ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ {وَلَا تَكُونُوا كَالَّذِينَ تَفَرَّقُوا وَاخْتَلَفُوا مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا جَاءَهُمِ الْبَيِّنَاتُ} حَتَّى بَلَغَ {فَفِي رَحْمَةِ اللهِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ} فَقُلْتُ يَا أَبَا أُمَامَةَ هَؤُلَاءِ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ» قُلْتُ شَيْئًا تَقُولُهُ بِرَأْيِكَ أَمْ شَيْئًا سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ «إِنِّي إِذًا لَجَرِيءٌ ثَلَاثًا لَقَدْ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ لَا مَرَّةً وَلَا اثْنَتَيْنِ حَتَّى عَدَّ سَبْعَةً» ثُمَّ وَضَعَ إِصْبَعَهُ فِي أُذُنَيْهِ فَقَالَ وَإِلَّا فَصَمَتَا
English Translation
Abu Ghalib said: I was walking with Abu Umamah while he was on his donkey until we reached the steps of Damascus, and there were heads displayed. He said: "What are these heads?" It was said: "Heads of the Kharijites brought from Iraq." He said: "Dogs of the Fire, dogs of the Fire - three times - the worst of those killed under the sky - three times - the best of those killed are those whom they killed - three times - blessed is the one who killed them and whom they killed - three times." Then he wept. I said: "What makes you weep, O Abu Umamah?" He said: "Out of mercy for them, for they were from the people of Islam and then they left Islam." Then he recited: {It is He who sent down to you the Book, in it are verses that are precise, they are the foundation of the Book, and others that are ambiguous} to the end. Then he recited: {And do not be like those who became divided and differed after clear proofs had come to them} until he reached {then in the mercy of Allah they shall abide forever}. I said: "O Abu Umamah, are these [the ones referred to]?" He said: "Yes." I said: "Is this something you say from your own opinion or something you heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)?" He said: "I would indeed be bold - three times. I heard it from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) not once, not twice - until he counted seven times." Then he placed his fingers in his ears and said: "Otherwise, may they be deafened."
