English Translation
Sahl ibn Sa'd narrated that a young man from the Ansar, newly married, went out with the Prophet (peace be upon him) on a military expedition. He returned midway to see his family and found a woman standing in the room. He raised his spear toward her, and she said: "Enter and see what is in the house." He entered and found a snake coiled on his bed. He struck it with his spear and pinned it. The snake thrashed and the man thrashed — the snake died and the man died. This was mentioned to the Prophet (peace be upon him), and he said: "Muslim jinn have settled in Madinah" — or he said: "These houses have dwellers (i.e., jinn). If you see any of them, seek refuge from it, and if it returns, kill it."
