English Translation
Zayd ibn Wahb said: I was in the army that 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) sent against the Khawarij. 'Ali said: "O people, I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: 'There will come a people from my community who recite the Quran, but your recitation is nothing compared to theirs, and your prayer is nothing compared to theirs, and your fasting is nothing compared to theirs. They recite the Quran thinking it is for them, but it is against them. Their prayer does not pass beyond their collarbones. They exit from the religion as an arrow exits from its target.' Their sign is a man whose arm is like a woman's breast, or like a piece of flesh that trembles." Zayd ibn Wahb said: We found him among those killed.
